Fall Favorites

Fall is our absolute favorite time of year to be out and exploring! We love the crisp temperatures and stunning colors found throughout our home state (New Hampshire) and New England. Listed below are some of my favorite fall items that are cozy, comfortable, and make the season that much more enjoyable!

Skida Head & Neckwear

Skida makes an appearance in most of what we post, not just because I grew up in Vermont and love a Vermont-made brand, but because their patterns are fun and their gear is awesome. From 5-panel hats to winter beanies, headbands, or buffs, they’re my go-to for the chilly season.

Royal Robbins Wool Tops

I lived in this 100% wool sweater last fall when we hit the road in our RV (I have it in dark green). It’s SO warm and it was perfect for throwing on as an extra layer after getting out of bed to make coffee and settle into work.

Rumpl Travel Blanket

We bring this travel blanket everywhere – hikes, camping, even flights! It packs up to the size of a Nalgene waterbottle and reflects heat so well. During fall, it’s so nice to have on hand for chilly evenings or if you want to sit a bit longer to take in a view.

Swix Pants

Most people have probably never heard of these unless they ski cross-country. But let me tell you, you guys are missing out lol. If you like to hike in chilly weather or winter, you should really consider a pair of these bad boys because they’ll blow your mind. They’re stretchy, wind-resistant, water repellent, and they zip all the way from your ankle to your hip. This means you can take them on and off over just about everything, even SNOWSHOES. They are tighter at the bottom, so you can zip them right over your boots, so you may not need gaiters. I’ll never stop singing the praises of these pants because they’re a 10/10 in my book for cold-weather adventuring. No, they’re not the cheapest, but my first pair lasted almost 10 years before they started to get a small hole (and I wore them for every single winter hike).

Thermos Insulated Stainless Steel Bottle

As soon as temperatures start to drop, we’re always bringing hot cocoa or hot tea to the trails. Not only does it warm us up and allow us to enjoy the view a little longer, but having hot, sugary beverages on you in winter can actually save you or others if hypothermia starts to present itself. This 40 oz. bottle keeps our hot liquids warm for up to 24 hours!

Columbia Hikebound II Jacket

Fall means wet and sometimes windy weather, so it’s important to have a quality shell to layer over your clothes. Ever since getting this Columbia shell, I’ve been living in it for all our adventures!

Collapsible Chairs from Walmart

We’ve wanted collapsible chairs for years and finally got some from Walmart! They’re only $35 and set up quickly and simply. We’re excited to use these on all of our fall adventures so we can sit, relax, and take in the changing colors!

Smartwool & Darntough Socks

We pretty much exclusively wear Smartwool or Darn Tough socks because they’re 100% wool, last forever, and keep our feet warm and dry.

Bludstones

I’ve owned Bludstone boots for years, and they’re always my go-to for day-to-day activities or smaller hikes. I own a brown and black pair and they’ve held up SO well, you’d never guess they’re many years old.

Smartwool Base Layers

We both own multiple 1/4 zip wool base layers from Smartwool, and they’re our go-to for any late fall/winter hikes. They wick moisture incredibly well and keep us toasty warm.
